Third week announced for phenomenal Kids Week

First Published 26 July 2010, Last Updated 26 July 2010

Kids Week in the West End, the annual festival of theatrical family fun, has proved so popular in 2010 that, for the first time ever, it will extend its spectacular offers into a third week.

The promotion, which offers one free child’s ticket (aged 5 to 16) with every full paying adult ticket for a wide range of London’s most popular shows, will now include the final week of the summer holidays, running from 13 August to 3 September.

Always a popular event in the theatrical calendar, Kids Week 2010 has been a record-breaking success, selling more than 40,000 tickets for performances during its original fortnight (13 to 27 August) since booking opened on 13 July. Its incredible popularity has prompted many producers to release an extra week’s worth of tickets to the promotion.

Tickets for performances from 28 August to 3 September will go on sale at 12:00 on Wednesday 28 July. They can be bought via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 248 5151 or online at www.kidsweek.co.uk

Speaking about the extension, Emma De Souza, Development Manager for the Society of London Theatre, which runs Kids Week, said: “We are thrilled that Kids Week is giving more children than ever before the chance to experience the magic of live theatre. As an extra bonus we are organising a special Family Fun day for 5-10 year olds at the Unicorn Theatre on 2 September. We will be announcing details shortly at www.kidsweek.co.uk

A host of London’s top shows are taking part in Kids Week 2010, offering one free child’s ticket with every paying adult and up to two more children’s tickets at half price. In addition to the ticket deals, Kids Week also offers a range of workshops and activities to give young theatre fans a real taste of life in the theatre.

“I know how you can fall in love with the excitement of theatre at an early age, I know because I did,” said Tamzin Outhwaite, the former EastEnders star and judge of Don’t Stop Believing who is currently leading the cast of Sweet Charity at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. “Kids Week is the perfect summer treat and gives children an amazing opportunity to experience theatre up close, three whole weeks dedicated to celebrating the best on offer – for absolutely nothing.”
