Dark Tourism, playing at Park Theatre

Tamaryn Payne leads Park’s Dark Tourism

Former Hollyoaks star Tamaryn Payne will lead the cast of new play Dark Tourism when it receives its world premiere at London’s Park Theatre this October.

The biting satire of celebrity and media cynicism, which also features Once and Dirty Dancing star Jill Winternitz, runs at the north London venue from 29 September.

The debut play from actor Daniel Dingsdale, Dark Tourism tells the story of a DJ who shares a little too much of his sexual exploits on air one night, drawing a children’s TV presenter into a media maelstrom. Can PR guru Richard Powell spin the situation, or does he have too much to deal with already juggling a fame-hungry reality star, a struggling actress and an aggressive tabloid journalist?

Payne, who was recently seen in The Heresy Of Love at Shakespeare’s Globe, and Winternitz are joined in the cast by Huw Parmenter, Rebecca Brewer, Josie Dunn, Tom Maller and the show’s writer, Dingsdale.

They are directed by Adam Lenson, who recently directed Songs From A New World at the St James Theatre and See What I Wanna See, which begins its run at Jermyn Street Theatre tomorrow.

Dark Tourism opens in the Park’s smaller auditorium, the Park90, following current production Hatched ‘N’ Dispatched, which stars Diana Vickers and Wendi Peters.
