The stars are out in full force as final Killer Joe casting is revealed: Kingsman actress Sophie Cookson will join Hollywood star Orlando Bloom in the upcoming West End revival of the gut-twisting thriller.

Cookson (who plays Roxy Morton in the film series, as well as ‘Sidney’ in Netflix’s Gypsy) and Bloom (Lord Of The Rings, Pirates Of The Carribean) will be joined by Steffan Rhodri (Dave Coaches in Gavin & Stacey), Neve McIntosh (recently seen as Kay Gillies in BBC1’s The Replacement), and Adam Gillen (currently playing the titular role of the National Theatre’s Amadeus).

A blackly comic thriller, Killer Joe asks where the moral line is drawn in the fight for survival.

When The Smith family hatch a get-rich-quick scheme to murder their estranged matriarch for insurance money, they hire Joe Cooper, police detective and part-time contract killer. But their plan spirals out of control when Joe comes face to face with their innocent daughter.

The production arrives over ten years since Bloom’s professional stage debut in the West End in 2007, a revival of David Storey’s In Celebration. He said of Killer Joe, “It’s the perfect time to be bringing this play back to London, and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of it.”

Tracy Letts’ play Killer Joe will play a strictly limited 13-week season from Friday 18 May – Saturday 18 August at Trafalgar Studio 1. The production is directed by Simon Evans, who also directed currently-playing West End hit The Best Man at the Playhouse Theatre.
