The Royal Court Theatre has announced casting for Torn and Father Comes Home From The Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3).

Torn is Nathaniel Martello-White’s Royal Court debut play, exploring a family broken by secrets and the scars of things left unsaid. The cast will include Franc Ashman, Lorna Brown, Kirsty Bushell, Roger Griffiths, James Hillier, Osy Ikhile, Adelle Leonce, Indra Ové and Jamael Westman, and runs from 7 September – 15 October at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs.

Suzan-Lori Parks’ Father Comes Home From The Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3) tackles the legacy of slavery in the US and its influence on the African-American experience. The cast includes Jimmy Akingbola, Tom Bateman, Dex Lee, Sibusiso Mamba, Nadine Marshall, Sarah Niles, Jason Pennycooke, John Stahl, Steve Toussaint and Leo Wringer. The show will run from 15 September – 22 October, and you can buy your tickets through us here.

Each show will also hold a free post-show event, exploring the themes of the play. These will form part of a series of events – called The Big Idea – taking place during September and October, featuring conversations curated in collaboration with Black Cultural Archives, exploring questions of identity, culture and race.
