First Published 25 May 2011, Last Updated 25 May 2011

The Royal Opera’s Faust, Tosca and Rigoletto are among a host of productions to be staged at the Royal Opera House and shown at cinemas around the world as part of the venue’s 2011/12 season.

Gounod’s Faust and Verdi’s Rigoletto are being screened live, as are the Royal Ballet performances of The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo And Juliet and La Fille Mal Gardée. The Royal Opera’s Adriana Lecouvreur, Tosca, Cendrillon and Il Trittico will all be recorded in advance before being shown in cinemas across the globe.

The nine Royal Opera House productions will be shown at more than 600 cinemas worldwide between September 2011 and May 2012, expanding the shows’ reach and allowing a far greater number of people to experience the work of the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera.

Among the performers cinemagoers will have the opportunity to see perform are Angela Gheorghiu, Joyce DiDonato, Jonas Kaufmann and Bryn Terfel.
