New cast for Curious Incident

Sion Daniel Young will follow his starring role in War Horse to lead the cast of another National Theatre West End long-runner when he joins The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time this June.

Young will play Christopher in the hugely successful Simon Stephens-penned stage adaptation of Mark Haddon’s award-winning novel, which tells the story of an autistic teenager’s moving and challenging journey to discover who has killed his neighbour’s dog.

He will be joined by a new company including Rebecca Lacey, who was last seen in the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s Pride And Prejudice, as his teacher Siobhan, alongside fellow Curious newcomers Mary Stockley, Jacqueline Clarke, Indra Ove, Stephen Beckett, Matthew Trevannion, Pearl Mackie, Sean Mckenzie and recent Guildhall graduate Kaffe Keating, who will play alternate Christopher.

The new company, who are currently in rehearsals ahead of their first performance at the Gielgud Theatre on 22 June, will join current cast members Mark Rawlings, Penelope McGhie, Naomi Said and Simon Victor.

Directed by Marianne Elliott, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time premiered at the National Theatre in 2012 before transferring to the West End in 2013, the year it famously collected a record equalling seven Olivier Awards.

The innovative play, which includes a showstopping set by Bunny Christie and distinctive movement by Scott Graham and Steven Hoggett, has now been seen by close to a million people as a result of its London, UK touring and Broadway productions.

The West End production is currently booking at the Gielgud Theatre until 24 October.
