Ray Cooney’s farce of infidelity among the political elite, Two Into One, will play at the Menier Chocolate Factory this spring.
Directed by the playwright, the comedy will run at the London Bridge venue from 8 March to 26 April. Casting information is yet to be announced.
Set amid the Thatcher government, on the eve of a vote to outlaw pornography everyone is on their best behaviour. Everyone, that is, except MP Richard Willey. He’s too worried about attempting to sleep with the Leader of the Opposition’s secretary. All his aide has to do is book the hotel room, but a series of hideous mistakes lead to ridiculous complications.
Cooney is one of the great names of British theatre. His career began as a boy actor in a 1946 production of Song Of Norway, but it is for the many comedies he has written that he is best known. Among his plays are Caught In The Net, the Olivier Award-winning Out Of Order and Run For Your Wife, which was brought to the big screen in 2013.
Two Into One opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory following the hugely successful current run of musical Candide. Leonard Bernstein’s musical comedy, which stars a host of West End regulars, received wide acclaim when it opened in December. It runs until 1 March.
