Martin Kemp is currently practicing his jazz hands because, from 2 July, he will star as smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn in the multi-award-winning Chicago at the Phoenix Theatre.

Martin will be replacing Cuba Gooding Jr and will appear for a strictly limited until 1 September 2018.

His acting credits include Reggie Kray alongside his brother Gary as Ronnie Kray in the film The Krays, Steve Owen in EastEnders, and Sam Phillips in the UK tour of Million Dollar Quartet. He’s also, of course, one-quarter of the band Spandau Ballet. He also appeared as a judge on the BBC’s Let It Shine, alongside Dannii Minogue and Gary Barlow, which eventually cast The Band.

After a 5 and a half year absence and following the acclaimed UK and international tour, Chicago’s burst of Razzle Dazzle and All That Jazz will once again light up London’s Theatreland from the Phoenix Theatre.

Chicago is based on Maurine Dallas Watkins’ 1926 play of the same name. Set in prohibition Chicago, the show tells the story of two rival performers – and murderesses – locked up in the same County Jail, and satirises corruption within the criminal justice system. Expect sexy, sassy and dangerously seductive songs, dance and events to unfold.

The rest of the cast joining Martin is yet to be announced.
