Looking back on West End LIVE

First Published 25 June 2012, Last Updated 27 June 2012

This weekend thousands of people descended on Trafalgar Square for two days of incredible free entertainment at West End LIVE, in association with MasterCard.

As well as exhilarating performances from every single musical in the West End, there were solo sets from West End stars Louise Dearman, Mark Evans, Alex Gaumond and Daniel Boys, appearances from children’s favourites Angelina Ballerina and Everything’s Rosie and revealing on stage Q&A’s with the stars.

As with every good festival, there was enough sun to give you a touch of that famous British red nosed chic before the heavens opened allowing everyone to get dancing in their wellies just in time for the music to blow the clouds away once more. Whatever the weather, the huge crowd, which Shrek The Musical’s Carley Stenson described as “wonderful”, was truly that, jiving to Dreamboats And Petticoats, shimmying with Chicago and rocking with Rock Of Ages.

We were on hand to cover the event as it happened and take a few shots, along with photographer Pamela Raith, in between singing along with the stars and attempting to moonwalk. As the Jersey Boys almost say, Oh What A Weekend…
