Dreamboats And Petticoats

London gets more Petticoats

Dreamboats And Petticoats will swing back into the West End later this month to play a limited run at the Wyndham’s theatre.

The popular 1960s-set musical, which closed at the Playhouse theatre this summer, will return from 16 October to coincide with the release of Universal’s sixth Dreamboats And Petticoats album.

Since opening at the Savoy theatre in 2009, Dreamboats And Petticoats, which tells the story of young musicians Norman and Bobby who compete against each other to win a national songwriting competition and, more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue, has been seen by more than two million people.

Written by the team behind TV sitcoms Goodnight Sweetheart and Birds Of A Feather, the musical features some of the greatest songs of the rock ‘n’ roll era, including Let’s Dance, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Shaking All Over, Happy Birthday Sweet 16, Let It Be Me and Let’s Twist Again.

Playing until 19 January 2013, Dreamboats And Petticoats will be followed into the Wyndham’s theatre by Richard Eyre’s revival of Quartermaine’s Terms, which will play from 23 January to 13 April and marks Rowan Atkinson’s first appearance in a play for almost 25 years.
