Lindsay Lohan’s leading men revealed

First Published 13 August 2014, Last Updated 13 August 2014

The West Wing’s Richard Schiff will star alongside London stage veteran actor Nigel Lindsay in autumn’s much-anticipated Speed-The-Plow in which Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan will make her stage debut.

The pair will play Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox, two film producers at the centre of David Mamet’s acclaimed satire who fall prey to the manipulative charms of secretary Karen (Lohan), who attempts to derail their plans to produce a sure-fire commercial hit.

Schiff will return to London following his appearances in one-man show Underneath The Lintel in the West End and Tamara Harvey’s Menier Chocolate Factory production of Smash! to play Bobby.

Arguably best known for his long-running Emmy Award-winning appearance as Toby Ziegler in the hugely successful series The West Wing, the screen star boasts extensive credits in films including Man Of Steel, The Infidel and Made In Dagenham, and popular series including House Of Lies and Murder In The First.

While the star has rarely been seen on the London stage, his American credits include a Broadway turn opposite Al Pacino in Glengarry Glen Ross, as well as starring roles in productions across the country including Hughie, Parfumerie and The Chosen.

In comparison, Lindsay has rarely been seen off the London stage over the course of his successful career. Olivier Award nominated for his role in Shrek The Musical, Lindsay is currently starring in A Small Family Business at the National Theatre where his other credits include The Pillowman, London Cuckolds and Blue Remembered Hills.

Away from the NT, the Four Lions star has acted extensively at London’s prestigious Donmar Warehouse (The Same Deep Water As Me, The Real Thing, Morphic Resonance), Almeida Theatre (The Homecoming, Romance) and Royal Court Theatre (Sucker Punch, The Woman Before). Speed-The-Plow will mark his return to the West End following starring roles in Guys And Dolls, Under The Blue Sky and Bedroom Farce.

Lindsay Posner’s high-profile production will play a limited run from 24 September to 29 November at the Playhouse Theatre.
