Lily POPS ogre to Drury Lane

Published 29 October 2012

X Factor contestant Amelia Lily has joined the celebrity line-up of this year’s POP Goes The Musical in aid of BBC Children In Need.

Following Spice Girl Geri Halliwell’s somewhat soggy appearance in Singin’ In The Rain last week, the You Bring Me Joy star will take to the stage in a unique curtain call at Shrek The Musical on 14 November.

Seemingly ogrejoyed at the prospect of performing in the family show, Lily said: “Shrek The Musical is loved by people of all ages, I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I can’t wait to start rehearsals.”

The annual charity project, which this year has given well known faces including Alexandra Burke and Blue a chance to perform in a hit West End show, helps raise vital funds for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Following the singer’s performance in the swamp-set show, X Factor winner Joe McElderry, soul singer Macy Gray and R&B girl band Stooshe will try to Beat It on 15 November when they take to the stage at the Lyric theatre to put their unique twist on the songs of Michael Jackson.
