Kids Week now on sale

First Published 12 July 2011, Last Updated 12 July 2011

Eager theatre fans of all ages can now hit the internet and get on their phones as tickets for Kids Week in the West End 2011, which runs from 12-26 August, are on sale.

The annual promotion, now in its 14th year, offers one child up to the age of 16 a chance to see some of London’s hottest shows entirely free of charge with every full paying adult. A further two children can also get half price tickets.

With over 30 of London’s most popular shows taking part this year, there is something for everyone. From the youngest of theatregoers, who can enjoy The Tiger Who Came To Tea, to lovers of large scale family musicals like Wicked and Shrek The Musical. There are classic dramas such as Pygmalion and hit comedies such as The 39 Steps. There are old favourites including Mamma Mia! and brand new West End successes like Betty Blue Eyes.

Speaking about Kids Week, former I’d Do Anything contestant and current Wicked star Rachel Tucker said: “Kids Week is a great children’s summer holiday treat, and what an exciting range of shows and experiences there is on offer.  Performers and theatre staff across London will be looking forward to welcoming Kids Week bookers through their doors again this summer, and introducing them to the magic of theatre!”

But Kids Week is not just about show deals. In its effort to get children involved with theatre, it also offers a range of exciting free experiences which this year include learning the Munchinkinland dance with The Wizard Of Oz, playing Quidditch with the team from Potted Potter and exploring behind the scenes at The Railway Children.

Emma De Souza, Head of Media and Marketing for the Society of London Theatre which runs Kids Week added: “Kids Week gives many children their first ever taste of live theatre, and it is wonderful to see them enjoy our Kids Go Free ticket deals and exclusive activities and workshops. Whether they are peeking backstage, rubbing shoulders with the stars or enjoying the magic of performing on a West End stage it is a theatrical experience they will remember forever.”

For more information or to book tickets visit www.kidsweek.co.uk or call the Ticketmaster 24hr hotline on 0844 248 5151. To really get into the Kids Week spirit join the Facebook group or follow @kidsweek on Twitter.

The first day of Kids Week booking can be busy, with allocations for some shows selling out quickly, so it is worth having a few shows and dates in mind when trying to book and being persistent when trying to call the booking line. Though today is the first day of ticket sales, allocations are updated throughout the summer, so it is worth checking the Kids Week website regularly.
