American musical theatre star Jennifer DiNoia will join the cast of Wicked from 27 October to lead the hit show as Elphaba for a limited season until 31 January.

While West End debutant DiNoia may be a new name for many British theatre fans, Wicked’s many loyal followers will no doubt be familiar with the US performer who has played the famous role of the green-skinned witch in productions across America and has now been part of the Wicked family for eight years.

Currently the standby Elphaba in the Broadway production, DiNoia will take over the role at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from current star Kelly Ellis, who returned to the role she first played in 2006 this summer for a limited 12-week engagement.

Speaking about her forthcoming role, DiNoia commented: “I am so honoured and excited to be making my West End and UK debut in this incredible role that has been part of my life and career for eight extraordinary years. I look forward to working with Savannah Stevenson and the amazing London company.”

DiNoia will join a cast including Stevenson, Jeremy Taylor and Martyn Ellis in the production that tells the magical story of two unlikely friends and how they become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
