In rehearsal: Imogen at Shakespeare’s Globe

First Published 12 September 2016, Last Updated 12 September 2016

These striking photos are our first insight into Matthew Dunster’s Imogen, opening at Shakespeare’s Globe on 17 September.

Matthew, Associate Director at Shakespeare’s Globe, refocuses Shakespeare’s Cymbeline on its central character Imogen, leading a viscerally modern new production of a tale of lovers and families in an urban setting, with former EastEnders and award-winning actress Maddy Hill playing the eponymous role.

These vivid rehearsal shots reveal Matthew’s vision for the show, renaming and reclaiming the play by transporting it into a world as strange, erotic and violent as Shakespeare’s ancient Britain.

Imogen opens at Shakespeare’s Globe on 23 September, with previews from 17 September, and runs until 16 October. Book your tickets direct from the Globe website today.
