In Pictures: Jersey Boys gala

Published 28 March 2014

Look who was walking like a man and thinking their evening was just too good to be true at the Jersey Boys gala night.

Whether they were beggin’ for sherry, or just working their way back to the Piccadilly Theatre, the celebrity fans were out in force last night as they welcomed Four Seasons musical Jersey Boys to its new home.

The hit musical, which first opened in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2008, tells the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, one of the biggest US pop acts of the 1960s who’ve sold more than 175 million records worldwide. Boys from the wrong sides of the track in New Jersey, it’s a tale of struggle, misdemeanours, girls, the mafia, the music industry and success against the odds.

John Lloyd Young, Broadway’s original Frankie Valli who will also play the uniquely voiced singer in the film adaptation due out later this year, leads the new London cast. Mr Selfridge stars Zoe Tapper and Greg Austin, Golden Globe-winning actress Brenda Blethyn, and Birds Of A Feather’s Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson were among the gala night crowd.
