First Published 27 May 2014, Last Updated 27 May 2014

Michael Morpurgo’s much-loved story I Believe In Unicorns will become the latest of his magical tales to come to life in the West End this summer with an acclaimed stage adaptation arriving at the Vaudeville Theatre this August.

Playing a mixture of daytime and evening performances from 8 to 31 August, I Believe In Unicorns stars Danyah Miller as the Unicorn Lady through whom the enchanting story unfolds.

Tomas hates school and he hates reading, he’s far happier playing in the mountains where he lives. But one day, his life is turned upside down when he meets the Unicorn Lady in his local library and his newfound love for the written word leads to a heroic act in his war-torn village.

A tale of the power of books and the bravery of young Tomas, War Horse author Morpurgo’s story for young book lovers was first published in 2005 and has since gone on to win the hearts of both children and adults alike in this theatrical adaptation.

Described by The Stage as “outstanding” and Primary Times as “An utterly magical stage adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s enthralling children’s tale”, I Believe In Unicorns is suitable for children aged 5 and older.

The Vaudeville Theatre will also be offering families another page to stage adaptation this summer, with Sally Cookson’s take on Jacqueline Wilson’s Hetty Feather playing alongside I Believe In Unicorns.

The family-friendly double bill will follow acclaimed drama Handbagged into the venue when the Tricycle Theatre transfer comes to the end of its run on 2 August.
