The full West End cast of Ink

Full casting announced for James Graham’s Ink

First Published 4 September 2017, Last Updated 4 September 2017

The full West End cast has been announced for James Graham’s celebrated new tabloid journalism drama Ink, which transfers from the Almeida to the Duke of York’s Theatre from Saturday (9 September).

The previously announced Bertie Carvel (who portrays Rupert Murdoch) and Richard Coyle (Larry Lamb) will be joined in the Ink cast by Oliver Birch, Rachel Caffrey, Bertie Carvel, Pearl Chanda, Richard Coyle, Geoffrey Freshwater, Jack Holden, Justin Salinger, Sophie Stanton, Tim Steed, Tony Turner and Rene Zagger, with Jonathan Coy joining the company to play the role of Hugh Cudlipp.

They will be joined on stage by Natalie Law, Andrew McDonald, Jonny McPherson, Owen Oldroyd and Joel Samuels, who form the ensemble.

Ink is set amidst the frenzy of 1969 Fleet Street, on which The Sun rises. Carvel plays a youthful and bright-eyed Rupert Murdoch, who launches The Sun’s first editor’s quest: to give the people what they want – no matter what the price.

Ink enjoyed a critically acclaimed London run at the Almeida Theatre prior to its West End transfer, and marks another hugely successful play from the pen of James Graham, the mind behind the Olivier Award-nominated This House.

The show is directed by Almeida Theatre Artistic Director Rupert Goold, and produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and the Almeida Theatre.
