Next week sees the opening of the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre 2019 season. To kick things off on 16 May will be a production of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Our Town.

Unfortunately, due to illness, Natalie Klamar has had to pull out of the production. Laura Rogers will now head up the cast as she will be taking the lead role of Stage Manager.

In anticipation of the upcoming opening, we’ve got a glimpse of the cast in rehearsals. You can see Phil Adèle, Pandora Colin, Karl Collins, Tom Edden, Jim Findley, Francesca Henry, Peter Hobday, Arthur Hughes, Thusitha Jayasundera, Terique Jarrett, Louis Martin, Miriam Nyarko, Garry Robson, Laura Rogers, Nicola Sloane, and Cleo Sylvestre preparing below.

Our Town explores birth, marriage, and death. Plus everything in between. On another ordinary day in Grover’s Corners, the townsfolk go about their business, all while a boy and girl fall in love. But as life’s events unfold and a community comes together, one question remains: “do any human beings ever realise life as they live it? Every, every minute?”

The timeless Pulitzer Prize-winning play is one of Thornton’s most performed plays which has been shown across the globe. It celebrates what it means to be human, the bonds that hold communities together, and our relationships with the ancient past and the eternal tomorrow.
