First Look: McQueen stars’ new looks

First Published 7 May 2015, Last Updated 7 May 2015

Glee star Dianna Agron promised us she’d be unrecognisable in McQueen when we met her at the Olivier Awards. She wasn’t joking, as these first images of the show’s stars prove.

Gone are the long blonde locks of cheerleader Quinn Fabray, replaced with a stylish black bob as she looks every inch the style icon in these new images.

Though we can still see it’s very much Evening Standard Theatre Award winner and Bluestone 42 star Stephen Wight alongside Agron, his transformation into acclaimed fashion designer Alexander McQueen is quite remarkable.

The images are released days before the eagerly anticipated new play, written by The Rubenstein Kiss’ James Phillips, begins its run at London’s St James theatre on 12 May.

The drama follows Dahlia, a fan who has been hiding in McQueen’s Mayfair garden for 11 nights, watching as he struggles to find the inspiration for his next collection. An opportunity arises and she breaks into his house to steal a dress she could never afford. When the designer finds her, instead of calling the police, he takes her on a dreamlike journey into the streets of London and the world of his imagination.

Earlier this week Agron took a break from the designer-inspired drama to turn heads at the annual ‘Oscars of fashion’ the Met Gala. For that event she took a break from the world of McQueen to wear a piece by US designer Tony Burch.
