English National Ballet’s Nutcracker returns to London Coliseum

Published 11 September 2018

The English National Ballet’s adored tradition of presenting a Nutcracker production each year since 1950 goes on: the show returns to the London Coliseum this festive season.

Nutcracker has become a staple of the London winter season, and enjoyed sold out performances in 2016 and 2017 at the same venue.

The show sees over 100 dancers and musicians bring to life the popular Tchaikovsky score, which features famous pieces including the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Waltz of the Flowers. These are performed live by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.

On a sparkling Christmas Eve in a frost-dusted Edwardian London, Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker doll discover a magical world, where she battles with the Mouse King and meets a handsome stranger. As the air grows colder, Clara and her valiant Nutcracker take a hot air balloon ride across London to the glistening Land of Snow where her adventure really begins.

To coincide with Nutcracker, English National Ballet will host a range of workshops and events, aimed to provide a gateway into the world of ballet. Activities include on-stage workshops for all ages, Live Drawing, Family Events, and behind-the-scenes talks.
