Daws and Simkins star in return of Yes, Prime Minister

Robert Daws will take on the role of PM Jim Hacker in Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn’s production of Yes, Prime Minister, which arrives back in the West End from 6 June at the Trafalgar Studio 1.

Daws, who is best known for his long-standing role as Dr Gordon Ormerod in the TV series The Royal, will be joined by Michael Simkins as his wily Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby.

Returning to the West End for a third time, Yes, Prime Minister offers a contemporary twist on the political manoeuvring of the duo, touching on themes such as the Euro, the failing economy, global warming, religion, BBC spending and the UK’s relationship with America.

Before exploring the realm of politics for his role in Yes, Prime Minister, Simkins’ stage appearances took on a more musical stance, starring in West End productions of Chicago and Mamma Mia!.

Daws was last seen at Trafalgar Studios in Sam Peter Jackson’s Public Property. The actor’s other credits include The Secret Of Sherlock Holmes at the Duchess theatre and appearances in Roger Roger, Jeeves And Wooster, New Tricks and Doc Martin on screen.

The political pair will be joined on stage at the Whitehall venue by Emily Bruni as Claire Sutton and Jim Barclay as Simon Chester. Clive Hayward, Sam Dastor and Tony Boncza will also reprise their roles from the show’s recent national tour.

Yes, Prime Minister is currently booking until January 2013.
