Charlie extends to June 2016

The Theatre Royal Drury Lane will keep its sugary coating until at least 4 June 2016 after Sam Mendes’ hit musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory announced a seven month extension to its booking period.

David Greig’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much-loved novel, which celebrated its 700th West End performance on Saturday, was previously booking until 31 October 2015.

The musical tale of Charlie Bucket, whose winning golden ticket gives him the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enter the top-secret factory owned by mysterious confectioner Willy Wonka, opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in May 2013.

Since then it has picked up a pair of London theatre’s most prestigious accolades at the Olivier Awards 2014 with MasterCard and has continued to delight audiences with its magical world of oompa-loompas, dancing squirrels and mouth-watering treats.

Under the direction of Skyfall director Mendes, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’s cast includes Alex Jennings, Barry James, Clive Carter, Jasna Ivir, Paul J Medford, Josefina Gabrielle, Billy Boyle, Roni Page and Myra Sands.

Tickets for the new booking period go on sale on 9 February and can be purchased through us here. Alternatively, for performances until 13 February, you can book tickets at fantastic discounted prices through our ticket promotion Get Into London Theatre.

As an additional treat – and this one comes with all the edible deliciousness with which Dahl’s tale is associated – you can enjoy an afternoon tea at the luxurious Rosewood London on 26 February, when Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’s three-time Olivier Award-winning star Jennings will be telling us all about his incredible career on stage and screen in one of our live In Conversation events.
