Pomona at the National Theatre

Cast announced for NT’s Pomona

First Published 13 August 2015, Last Updated 27 August 2015

Nadia Clifford, Rebecca Humphries, Sarah Middleton, Sean Rigby, Guy Rhys and Sam Swann will reprise their roles in the Orange Tree Theatre’s hit production of Pomona when it transfers to the National Theatre this autumn.

Alistair McDowall’s surreal thriller will play from 10 September to 10 October in venue’s now iconic red Temporary Theatre.

The septet, whose “meaty performances” were commended in Henry Hitchings’ review of the production’s premiere at the Richmond venue, will be joined by Pomona newcomer Rochenda Sandall (Coriolanus, Donmar Warehouse) who replaces Grace Thurgood.

Directed by Ned Bennett, Pomono tells the sinister story of Ollie, who sets off in search of her missing sister only to find that all roads lead to Pomona, an abandoned concrete island at the heart of Manchester. Here, journeys end and nightmares are born.

Bennett’s production opened at the Orange Tree Theatre in November 2014. It arrives at the National Theatre’s Temporary Theatre as part of an upcoming season that also includes a new version of The Comedy Of Errors for young people and page to stage adaptation I Want My Hat Back.
