Cast announced for Counting Stars

First Published 25 July 2016, Last Updated 25 July 2016

Estella Daniels and Lanre Malaolu will star in Atiha Sen Gupta’s Counting Stars at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Counting Stars is the first show in the new season from award-winning playwright and newly appointed Writer in Residence Atiha Sen Gupta, and takes the audience inside the toilets of a nightclub, where Sophie (Daniels) and Abiodun (Malaolu) are Nigerian immigrants who work as attendants, surviving on tips alone. Sophie sees herself as a “PA to the stars” and pampers her customers like they are celebrities. Abiodun is charming, smart, and increasingly frustrated with how they are being treated by management.

Counting Stars will see the stage transformed into a studio format nightclub installation, and promises to be a heart-felt and funny portrait of immigrant life. Tickets are available from the Theatre Royal Stratford East website.
