Billy Elliot plans encore screenings

Due to huge public demand following yesterday’s live screened performance of Billy Elliot The Musical, the hit West End show has announced a series of encore screenings.

A further nine countries across four continents will have the chance to watch the historic live performance of Lee Hall’s much-loved show, which included an incredible curtain call that brought together 25 former and current Billy Elliots to dance together for the first time ever.

While thousands of people across the world enjoyed the live relay from the Victoria Palace Theatre, UK audiences now have an extra chance to attend screenings on 2, 3, 4 and 5 October in 350 cinemas across the country.

11-year-old Elliott Hanna, who became the youngest performer to ever play Billy when he made his debut at just 10-years-old, led yesterday’s cast in the lead role and was joined by the first actor ever to play the role, Liam Mower, as Older Billy for the special event.

As well as the specially choreographed mash-up finale, the performance was also introduced by the show’s acclaimed director Stephen Daldry.

The show, which features music by pop legend Elton John, will also be releasing a film of the performance on Blu-ray and DVD on 24 November.
