Austentatious announces residency at the Fortune Theatre

There’s good news for both literary and comedy fans today, as Austentatious: The Improvised Jane Austen Novel has announced a regular residency at the Fortune Theatre from 18 February 2019.

Starring top-notch comedy performers in full period costume, accompanied with live music, this utterly improvised show revolves around a “lost” Jane Austen story. Performing a different show every night, the only basis for the plot is the title suggested by the audience, and everything escalates from there. Previous ‘lost‘ masterpieces have included “The Sixth Sense and Sensibility,” “Mansfield Shark” and “Double 0 Darcy”. In an evening chock-full of witty heroines, dashing gents and outrageous plots, swooning is almost certainly guaranteed.

Since its early beginnings in a pub back in 2011, this unique show has already played over 500 performances in 150 venues across the UK and sold out five national tours, so whether you know every Austen book from cover-to-cover, or have never even heard of her, you’re going to love it.

The show stars Amy Cooke-Hodgson, Andrew Hunter Murray, Cariad Lloyd, Daniel Nils Roberts, Graham Dickson, Joseph Morpurgo and Rachel Parris.

For fans of the show who are already planning on seeing it more than once, there’s even more good news, as there will be loyalty cards to reward returning audiences members. So once you’ve watched the show four times at the Fortune Theatre, you get your fifth visit for free!

Talking about their new residency, the Austentatious cast said, ‘We are delighted to be paying a weekly visit to the home of The Woman in Black, although we do think she could do with some rather more colourful outfits and maybe a new bonnet. We can’t wait to take up residence in our new home and look forward to being joined by the great and the good of London’s dazzling West End.”

Tickets for Austentatious: The Improvised Jane Austen Novel are now available on the show’s website.
