Atherton joins Webb in Cinderella

In the first panto news of the year (Oh no it isn’t! Oh yes it is!) Julie Atherton is to join Steven Webb (pictured) in the Lyric Hammersmith ’s seasonal production of Cinderella, which will run from 24 November 2012 to 6 January 2013.

West End performer Webb, who has previously appeared in the Lyric Hammersmith’s productions of Aladdin and Dick Whittington And His Cat, will play Buttons in the story of a poor mistreated girl who just wants to go to a ball.

Atherton, who counts Avenue Q and Mamma Mia! among a list of major London credits that glitters more than an easily lost, sparkly glass slipper, will take the title role.

The theatre’s regular panto collaborators Joel Horwood and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm return to write the comic caper, but the theatre’s Artistic Director, Sean Holmes, is to step into the panto’s directorial shoes for the very first time.

Speaking about the fun-filled festive frolic, Webb, who also joins the creative team as Creative Associate, said: “I’m so excited to be coming back to the Lyric for my third panto. It always has such a unique style and collaborative approach that I truly can’t wait to see what we come up with.”
