Alexandra Burke stars at West End LIVE

First Published 13 June 2014, Last Updated 13 June 2014

Pop star, former X Factor winner and current The Bodyguard leading lady Alexandra Burke will perform at West End LIVE, the free entertainment festival being held in Trafalgar and Leicester Squares on 21 and 22 June.

The Bad Boys singer will perform as part of The Bodyguard’s performance, which comes just after 14:00 on Saturday. The songs she will sing for the crowds at Trafalgar Square are yet to be revealed.

The news comes at the end of a busy week for the pop princess turned stage star. Earlier this week stars of the music business descended on the Adelphi Theatre to support Burke as she performed for the press in her new role as The Bodyguard’s Rachel Marron.

The Bodyguard, which will run at the Adelphi until the end of August, tells the story of a global superstar singer whose manager is forced to employ a former secret service agent when an overzealous fan turns into a dangerous stalker. Initially dubious about each other, the relationship between diva Marron and her bodyguard Frank Farmer grows in a surprising direction. But what effect will this have on his ability to protect her?

The musical, which features the back catalogue of Whitney Houston, is just one of many hit London shows performing for free in Trafalgar Square over the weekend of West End LIVE.

To celebrate the 10th year of the event, Leicester Square will also be part of the festivities. A 1920s Spiegeltent will be erected, housing an incredible interactive theatre exhibition and live In Conversations with stars of the London stage.
