Transferring to the Young Vic’s main stage from the Maria studio, The Changeling is a gripping and darkly comic tale of how love and sex can drive us mad.

The beautiful Beatrice-Joanna is in love, so she does the only sensible thing she can and hires the hideous De Flores to kill the man her father wants her to marry. Unfortunately for her, once the evil deed is done, she discovers that it is neither jewels nor money that De Flores is claiming as his reward, but something altogether more precious.

Joe Hill-Gibbins returns to the Young Vic to direct The Changeling following his critically acclaimed productions of The Beauty Queen Of Leenane and The Glass Menagerie at the Waterloo venue.

Written by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley, The Changeling is arguably one of the most powerful tragedies ever written.
