Set in 1935 in a small French village, The Baker’s Wife explores the nature of marriage and the dangerous excitement of a knight in shining armour. The village baker has recently married, but his new young wife seems to be nothing but a danger to the community. Through the course of the play we discover that childhood stories can backfire horribly in adult life.
The Baker’s Wife boasts a book by the writer of Fiddler On The Roof and a breathtaking score by the composer of Wicked. Whilst award-winning director Michael Strassen directs this revised version of Stephen Schwartz’s forgotten love story.
