The Knight Atis seeks to marry Argie, a girl guarded closely, on the orders of her guardian Anselme, by Orcan. The elderly Anselme, who had hoped to marry Argie himself, is eventually outwitted.

Based on a story by La Fontaine, itself taken from Ariosto, Les Paladins treats its characters light-heartedly and finds room for musical parody of one sort or another in the process. It includes a number of instrumental episodes, dances and symphonies.

This production combines the talents of musical director William Christie and the celebrated baroque ensemble Les Arts Florissants. Jose Montalvo will direct and choreograph the production, which will also feature dancers from his award-winning Comagnie Montalvo-Hervieu.
