What happens when a Duke passes power to his second-in-command, preferring to wander disguised in the streets, watching what happens first hand? What happens if the second-in-command sets out to purge society of sexual corruption, but finds himself consumed in his own erotic dream? What if a young man is sentenced to be executed for fornication and the only way to save him lays through the loss of his sister’s virginity, his sister the nun?
Complicite return to the National with their wickedly comic production of one of Shakespeare’s least classifiable dramas; a production last seen at the National in 2004. Complicite’s previous work at the National includes A Minute Too Late, Mnemonic and The Caucasian Chalk Circle.

Unlike film, theatre doesn't have an official age classification organisation. That means all age recommendations are subjective and should be treated as guidelines unless otherwise stated. With this in mind, we ask you to use your judgement in regards to a show’s suitability prior to purchase. However, we are more than happy to help you make a decision.
