Director Bijan Sheibani makes his Hampstead Downstairs debut with Giving, a cutting drama that explores who actually gains the most from the act of donating.

Seemingly philanthropic businesswoman Mary Greene is to be exclusively profiled by journalist Laura in light of her extraordinary deeds and charitable motives.

But as Laura digs deeper, she uncovers evidence which calls into question the true priorities of Mary and, in particular, her advisory board. Does the rationale for, and morality of, philanthropic donations matter less than the outcome?

An absorbing new play that examines whether charity can ever truly be considered altruistic, Giving is led by Emil And The Detectives’ Sheibani.
