Based on the Michael Morpurgo novel The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips, 946 is a touchingly tender, political and surprisingly romantic family show surrounding the events of the D-Day landings.

It is 1944, creeping towards the precipice of the end of the Second World War. In Slapton Sands, Devon, a quiet seaside village is suddenly, and without warning, evicted and occupied by American soldiers to clear the way for practice landings of Normandy.

Told from the perspective of a 12 year-old, who only has her cat to whisper her secrets to, 946 explodes everything we thought we knew about the landmark events, using music, puppetry and foolishness to tell a tale that promises to speak to us all.

Following critical acclaim elsewhere, Shakespeare’s Globe hosts Emma Rice’s triumphant Kneehigh show for families, showing in London for the first time.
