When choosing to take the whole family to the theatre, it’s not always easy to decide what to see. For a start, there’s so much to choose from – one of your kids might want to see their favourite musical, conveniently forgetting that musicals aren’t the other’s bag. And that’s without even considering the grown-ups.
But one type of show which brings everybody in the family together is laugh-til-you-cry comedy – and that’s where The Comedy About A Bank Robbery comes in.

There are jokes for young and old
When The Comedy About A Bank Robbery’s got you, it’s got you. It’s almost impossible not to smile – no matter your age. As Nichola described in her visit, “Looking over at my eight year old daughter giggling uncontrollably made my heart just leap. She was so happy, so lost in the moment, sat watching the play… A properly funny play with joke after joke, it felt wonderful to see how much she was embracing it.
“This is definitely a PG show but our eight and ten year olds thought it was the funniest thing they’d ever seen… laughing uncontrollably at the comedy capers in front of them and watching absolutely spellbound by the actors.”
It’s perfectly situated in the West End
The Criterion Theatre is based just across from the Piccadilly lights, right at the heart of London’s Theatreland. As a result, the visuals outside can often be just as spectacular as those in the theatre – as Nichola’s family discovered.
“I love the West End of London. It’s such a vibrant, colourful place, full of the buzz of the city, with entertainment at its heart and dozens of theatre doors with so many stories to tell of happy evenings out.”
It’s a great introduction to live comedy
Some kids might not have seen a show before, so it’s not always easy to know where to start them off. But The Comedy About A Bank Robbery is accessible to all, as Nichola explained:
“What a wonderful introduction to the fantastic world of the stage for them. It’s such a great thing for them to love at a young age and throughout August there are plenty of opportunities for children to get in to the theatre in London, with a number of shows offering free kids tickets as part of #KidsWeek – The Comedy About A Bank Robbery being one of them.’”
The Comedy About A Bank Robbery is participating in Kids Week this year; throughout August, a child aged 16 or under can go free when accompanied by an adult paying full price.
