Arthur Miller’s debut play will receive a West End premiere this summer after impressing during its world premiere at the Old Red Lion Theatre in 2015.
No Villain, which the Death Of A Salesman playwright wrote in six days as a 20-year-old college student, will run at the Trafalgar Studios 2 from 14 June to 9 July.
Directed by Sean Turner, the play tells the story of a strike at a garment factory that pits son against father, and hints at Miller’s political values and the talent that would soon flourish.
When it was staged at the Old Red Lion last year, The Independent described the production as “Absolutely brilliant”.
Speaking about the transfer, Turner said: “I am thrilled to be continuing my journey with this remarkable play in the West End, it’s been an absolute pleasure to make and see audiences respond to, I am delighted that many more will be able to discover Miller’s playwriting roots, the same way I did two years ago.”
No Villain opens at the bijou London theatre following the current production of harrowing Hampstead hit Firebird (until 19 March), and the transfer of two Edinburgh hits, one-man commentary on modern living Raz (22 March to 16 April) and satire Boris: World King (19 April to 14 May).
