Video: More from Elf’s cast recording

Published 26 October 2015

“I don’t want a cheque that’s made out to cash or a corporate re-gift from some secret stash.” No neither do we, Michael; for Christmas we want another instalment of action from the Elf recording studio.

In that case, it looks like Christmas has come early. Last time we saw the West End’s very own Buddy, Ben Forster, and his festive cheer-spreading helper Kimberley Walsh showcase their vocals as they set about recording the show’s official London cast album.

This time it’s all about the choreography. Choreography in a cast album? That’s right, it’s not all about the singing, as director and choreographer Morgan Young reveals the secret to audibly conveying the moves of an entire ensemble with just a handful of cast members.

Watch the video above to get a feel for what audiences visiting the Dominion Theatre over the Christmas period can expect from the musical stage adaptation. Based on the festive film starring Will Ferrell, Elf charts the story of Buddy The Elf – spoiler alert: he isn’t actually an elf – as he sets off to find his father in New York City.
