In this week’s episode of Theatre Chat Live, Jess speaks to Manny Tsakanika who plays Mike in Magic Mike Live at the Hippodrome Casino and answers your questions about theatre returning #BackOnStage.
Manny joins us on his day off and shares how exciting it is to be back in rehearsals and #BackOnStage.
The dancer and model started his journey as a performer from a very early age but began taking it seriously from 16 when he got a college scholarship to train in the field and looked to his idols to inspire and plan his career path. Reflecting on when he first joined the show, Manny says “it’s like no other job I’ve done….and incomparable to any other show.”
Describing his return to work and reunited with his team mates, Manny says “Its amazing. We have the best company. From stage management to cast, it’s like one big family.”
Although he appreciated his time off, to enjoy with family, resetting his body and pursuing personal projects, Manny is overjoyed to be back and says the cast members have returned with a fresh energy to bring to their audiences.
Manny shares how the show is loosely based off the movie and says it’s much more than your first impressions may suggest.
“The show is super empowering…. We allow you to be as free as you want, and enjoy it as much as you want.”
Equal parts empowering and exhilarating, the 90-minute show is punctuated by unexpected, temperature-raising acts from a thrilling range of acrobatic and musical talent.
