Showstopper! The Improvised Musical to open at The Other Palace

By Carly-Ann Clements Published 3 December 2018

If you love an unpredictable story, original songs and a high probability for silliness, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is the show for you. And if you’re yet to see it, there’s never been a better opportunity, as it’ll be playing a seven-week run at The Other Palace Theatre from 22 January 2019.

The run will see eight brand-new and spontaneously created shows a week and take place alongside the show’s usual monthly shows at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. And during the run, the show will celebrate its 1,000th performance!

Each night, the team will create a real musical from scratch with a new story, characters, music and choreography. The Showstoppers! have previously conjured hits including Emotional Baggage – a First Class Heathrow Airport-set romance, and Sweeney Cod – the tale of a fish shop owner with music reminiscent of Kander and Ebb.

With 11 years as an Edinburgh Festival must-see phenomenon, a critically acclaimed West End run and the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family Show to their name, The Showstoppers have blazed a trail in world-class improvised comedy and delighted audiences across the globe.

Transforming audience suggestions – for setting, musical styles, show title and more – into all-singing, all dancing productions with hilarious results, The Showstoppers guarantee audiences an entirely different show every single night as each performance is a brand-new musical West End hit waiting to happen.

Tickets for the Lyric Theatre run are available, here.
