Everybody’s Talking About Jamie continues to bring the stars into its Sheffield setting, with the news that Rita Simons – best known for playing Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders – will join the West End cast in August.

An award-winning actress, Rita Simons is one of the country’s most-loved TV actresses, having claimed the prize of Most Popular Newcomer at the National Television Awards and Best Newcomer at the Digital Spy Soap Awards. She most recently starred in film The Krays: Dead Man Walking, and was a 2018 contestant in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!. She’s also starred on stage in Legally Blonde and The House In Cold Hill (both UK tours).

Rita will take on the role of Miss Hedge from 5 August, as Faye Tozer departs the West End cast. She said of the news: “I am so excited to be playing Miss Hedge in what is by far my favourite show… I went to see it when it opened and always wanted to be part of this incredible show… roll on August!”

Nica Burns, the show’s producer, added: “Rita is a very popular and much loved actress. Before she burst onto our TV screens winning Most Popular Newcomer at the National Television Awards, she had a successful career as a singer and two hit singles with the band, Girls @ Play. She will knock you out with her voice as she rocks it as Miss Hedge.”

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is the feelgood musical sensation at the West End’s Apollo Theatre, telling the story of a sixteen year-old destined to make his dreams come true. With catchy songs by Dan Gillespie Sells, it’s funny, fabulous – and has been wowing audiences and critics alike.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is also participating in Kids Week; throughout August, a child aged 16 or under can go free when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Adults can also purchase up to two extra children’s tickets at half price, and there are no booking fees to pay.
