Elaine Paige and a host of Theatreland stars were on hand at tkts Leicester Square this lunchtime to help promote the changes to the West End’s only official theatre ticket booth.

Tkts, which has been selling half-price on-the-day tickets for the West End’s hottest shows since 1980, now sells discounted theatre tickets up to seven days in advance. Jersey Boys’ Ryan Molloy, Glenn Carter, Philip Bulcock and Stephen Ashfield, Mamma Mia’s Linzi Hateley and four of the residents of Avenue Q were all there to take a look at the new deals.

Musical theatre leading lady Paige was eager to lend her support to tkts as profits from the ticket sales are injected back into the theatre industry, supporting projects including the Laurence Olivier Bursaries for promising actors and producers and annual summer promotion Kids Week in the West End.

Nica Burns, West End producer and President of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), which runs tkts, commented: “We’re thrilled that Elaine Paige and so many West End stars are helping us celebrate such an important part of Theatreland. Each year, the tkts booth brings world-class theatre to hundreds of thousands of people and the best and fairest service.  Furthermore, its profits go to fund the Laurence Olivier bursaries for drama students and many other vital theatrical causes.”

The tkts ticket booths can be found in Leicester Square and Brent Cross shopping centre. In addition to London theatre tickets, the booths also sell tickets for concerts, sport and other London-based events.

Official London Theatre is updated daily to show what’s on sale at the tkts booths.
