As Cuba Gooding Jr’s charismatic run in West End musical Chicago comes to a close, the production has confirmed casting for its second booking period from Monday 2 July, with We Will Rock You favourite Mazz Murray joining Martin Kemp in the show from next week.

Murray will play the ever-attentive Mama Morton in the hit production, alongside Kemp as slick lawyer Billy Flynn. The duo join Sarah Soetaert, Josefina Gabrielle and Paul Rider as Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly and Amos Hart respectively. Kemp will play Flynn until 2 September 2018, while Soetaert, Gabrielle, Murray and Rider will perform in the show until 11 August 2018.

And if that’s not cause to celebrate enough, the show has extended its razzle-dazzle run at the Phoenix Theatre until Saturday 5 January 2019.

Murray is best known to West End audiences for her nine-year stint as Killer Queen in We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. She’s also starred as Tanya in Mamma Mia! (Novello Theatre), Mabel in Fame (Victoria Palace) and Dusty Springfield in A Girl Called Dusty (Duke of York’s Theatre).

The multi award-winning Kander & Ebb musical Chicago, winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy, returned to London’s West End on Monday 26 March. A satire of the criminal justice system, Chicago has played in 36 countries worldwide since opening in new York in 1996, and has been performed in 12 different languages.

Chicago is also participating in Kids Week; throughout August, a child aged 16 or under can go free when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Adults can also purchase up to two extra children’s tickets at half price, and there are no booking fees to pay.
