Kinky Boots musical extends London run

First Published 16 October 2015, Last Updated 16 October 2015

Hit musical Kinky Boots, which opened in London to rapturous reviews last month, has extended its run at the West End’s Adelphi Theatre to May 2016, adding three months to its previous booking period.

Tickets for the added months go on sale from Monday 19 October.

The Tony Award-winning show, which features music and lyrics by Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer Cyndi Lauper, tells the story of Charlie Price, who, on the eve of his big move away from his Northampton home, finds himself pulled back to take charge of his father’s failing shoe factory. Inspiration comes in the fabulous form of drag Queen Lola, a performer in need of sturdy, sexy footwear. But can the factory workers, and Charlie, cope with the most glamorous of new inhabitants?

The show features a book written by Harvey Fierstein, who will also rework classic music Funny Girl for its Menier Chocolate Factory revival starring Sheridan Smith and Darius Campbell this winter.

Kinky Boots’ cast is led by former The Voice UK contestant Matt Henry as the striking, sexy, sultry Lola and Olivier Award nominee Killian Donnelly as the rather overwhelmed Charlie.
