Harry Potter transforms into one-part version

By Tony BeckinghamPublished 8 October 2026

Earlier this year, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child celebrated its 10th anniversary in the West End and the show has marked the occasion by reimagining itself into a single part show.

From 9 October, you only need one ticket to enjoy the eighth part in the Harry Potter saga, picking up right where the Deathly Hallows stops – on Platform 9 ¾ with Harry, Hermione and Ron waving off their children to Hogwarts.

When Harry Potter part eight first launched in July 2016, the show was in two parts, both with an interval and a gap between performances. You could watch them either on different evenings or in one very long day. As the record-breaking nine-time Olivier Award-winning play started transferring internationally to Broadway, Australia and beyond, the script was revised and updated to a single part and this version is finally coming home to London.

The show will now be 2 hours and 55 minutes, including one interval and you can book tickets all the way to June 2027. Or if you’d like to drop a subtle hint that you’d love to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as a birthday gift, why not request a Harry Potter Theatre Token e-gift.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, we got together with the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to give them a birthday cake. But we couldn’t make it that easy – we made them decorate the cake themselves and answer trivia about the show while they did.

To celebrate the show’s ninth birthday we invited their then-cast to play charades – the twist being that each round was a special wizarding word.

In 2017, Harry Potter won a record-breaking nine Olivier Awards, the most of any production in a single night. Below is the moment the show won Best New Play.
