One Olivier Award-nominated David is replacing another in the Come From Away cast, as David Thaxton takes over the roles of David Shannon.
David Thaxton will be playing the roles of Kevin T, Garth and others from 9 September. No stranger to performing in the West End, David has previously appeared in two of the longest-running shows in Theatreland; The Phantom Of The Opera and Les Misérables. David Shannon’s final performance will be on 7 September.
Nominated for nine Olivier Awards this year, and winner of four (including Best New Musical), Come From Away recently announced an extended run until 15 February 2020.
The show tells the incredible real-life tale of the 7,000 air passengers grounded in Canada after 9/11. On 11 September 2001 the world stopped in the wake of crisis. On 12 September, their stories moved us all.
Set in the small Newfoundland community of Gander, which invited these “come from aways” into their homes and lives, the musical shows how, despite initial nerves and tensions, uneasiness soon gave way to trust. And as music soared into the night, gratitude grew into friendship, and hope, humanity and unity prevailed.
Through a colourful and spirited cast of characters, Come From Away is brought to life by the Tony and Grammy-nominated writing team Irene Sankoff and David Hein.
David Thaxton will join the rest of the cast which includes, Jenna Boyd (Beulah and others), Nathanael Campbell (Bob and others), Clive Carter (Claude and others), Mary Doherty (Bonnie and others), Robert Hands (Nick, Doug and others), Helen Hobson (Diane and others), Jonathan Andrew Hume (Kevin J, Ali and others), Harry Morrison (Oz and others), Emma Salvo (Janice and others), Cat Simmons (Hannah and others) and Rachel Tucker (Beverley, Annette and others) with Chiara Baronti, Mark Dugdale, Bob Harms, Kirsty Malpass, Tania Mathurin, Alexander McMorran, Brandon Lee Sears and Jennifer Tierney.
Tickets for Come From Away are available on Official London Theatre.
