We went to the first night of Bagdad Cafe at the Old Vic last night to see what Emma Rice’s newest endeavour is all about!

Megan and Dan went to check out the Wise Children Company’s interpretation of the 1987 film, you can see what they had to say on our Instagram stories in the video below!

Aside from loving the experience of being back in a theatre, Megan and Dan loved the production, which sees a bunch of mismatched characters thrown together in a remote cafe and motel.

Ordinarily, no one would choose to stay at the Bagdad Café but in the dust and isolation, unexpected and extraordinary friendships begin to blossom. The lost are found as individuals transform into an eclectic community bound by music, magic and some very strong coffee.

Given new pertinence by the last year we’ve had, the film is given new life and – of course – the classic Emma Rice treatment.
