On its premiere in 1993 at the National Theatre, Stephen Daldry’s production of An Inspector Calls was hailed as a masterpiece, bringing JB Priestley’s work to the fore once more. After a transfer to the West End, where it stayed for eight years, a Broadway production and national and international tour, this Laurence Olivier and Tony Award-winning staging returns to London with Daldry directing once more.

A compelling thriller, An Inspector Calls was written at the end of the Second World War but takes audiences back to the era before the first, to the home of the prosperous Birling family home. When the mysterious Inspector Goole calls unexpectedly on the family, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman.

Daldry – now known for his hugely successful film directing career as well as stage work including Billy Elliot The Musical – directs this restaging of his 1993 production of An Inspector Calls, which once again features Ian MacNeil’s impressive set.
