The Trafalgar Studios is a West End Theatre on Whitehall, opposite Trafalgar Square.

It was renamed in 2004 to The Trafalgar Studios, since 1930, it had been the Whitehall Theatre.

It was originally famous for its comedies , but during World War II, it became famous for hosting revues, which were hugely popular at the time.

In 1942, the Whitehall Follies (which featured the first striptease in the West End!), opened to overnight success. Phyllis Dixey (who formed the group), leased the Theatre and The Follies stayed there for 5 years.

In the 50’s and 60’s the theatre hosted the famous Brian Rix ‘Whitehall Farces’.

From 1997 – 1999, the building was converted into a television/radio studio. Jack Docherty’s Talk Show and Live From London for BBC Radio 4.

The venue re-opened as a theatre in 2004 as Trafalgar Studios, part of the ATG group. It is now part of Trafalgar Entertainment Group. Trafalgar 1 has 380 seats while Trafalgar 2 has 98.

In recent years, Trafalgar Studios has developed a groundbreaking international exchange programme with both Sydney Theatre Company and New York based LAByrinth Theater Company.
