Simon Callow returns to the West End stage in his one-man show exploring the life and characters of Charles Dickens.

Written by award-winning novelist, biographer and poet Peter Ackroyd, The Mystery Of Charles Dickens brings to life the author behind the 19th century classics as well as 49 of Dickens’ best loved characters, including Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, Miss Havisham, Scrooge, Oliver Twist, Fagin and Nancy.

Marking the bicentenary of Dickens’ birth, The Mystery Of Charles Dickens is a celebration of the great British storyteller and leads audiences on a journey through a land of pompous beadles and drunken midwives.

Though best known for his roles in British films including A Room With A View, Maurice, Four Weddings And A Funeral and Shakespeare In Love, Callow was last seen in Being Shakespeare at Trafalgar Studios, where he was challenged with portraying another well known literary legend.

A regular on the West End stage, Callow has previously appeared in Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Twelfth Night and Waiting For Godot, in which he starred alongside Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
